September 2010

This month has been pretty good for us in the Brown family. Everyone has been pretty happy and healthy.

Alexander still isn't talking yet. He's in the Babies Can't Wait program and is making some progress. He can approximate a few more words (no, yeah, ow, oh) although he still doesn't understand the concept of really speaking in English. He had a hearing test done on Friday and we're still waiting for the results from that. We're also working with his pediatrician on trying to get him higher up on the growth chart (he's actually not even on the chart right now.) He had an allergy test done a few weeks ago and it didn't show any allergies (except a negligible sensitivity to egg whites). AND I finally got a hold of the recommended endocrinologist's office today and got him an appointment to look into possible growth hormone deficiency tests. So that's been Alexander's medical month in a nutshell.

As far as Alexander's day to day life goes, well, he's 2, what can I say. He's learning to create ever more complex ladder systems to aid himself in climbing. He loves building with blocks. We've been officially reading the scriptures and praying with him every night for the past month or so and it's going as well as can be expected. My dad brought a few of our old illustrated Book of Mormon children's books when he visited the last time and that has been helping Alexander to pay a little more attention. Alexander likes to try to share his toys and snacks with his brother, which is cute if somewhat less effective. :-) Just in the past few weeks has he shown any jealousy of his baby brother. He doesn't seem to actually blame Jacob, though. He just seems to think that if I'm holding this new baby in my lap, he should be able to get in my lap too. Or if I've just put Jacob down, Alexander decides it must be his turn for a piggy back ride. He still loves Curious George and Disney movies but his new favorite show is Word World on PBS.

Jacob is a happy boy. He's pretty much over his colic and is good eater. He's ahead of the curve on head control and some other milestones. He's very curious about his world. I can't believe he's going to be 3 months old on Friday. Not a lot else to tell about him, he's cute and sweet and wonderful.

Kevin is the new Elder's Quorum president at church and I'm still in my calling as the 2nd counselor in the primary presidency.

I'm going to try to do more updates like this from now on instead of just pictures but I have been updating my other blogs fairly regularly if you're ever interested in seeing things I've written.

  1. Sorry to hear about all of Alexander's issues. It must be frustrating that he doesn't talk yet. I get frustrated with Luke and he IS talking.

Jacob is a cutie and I can't wait to meet him--who knows when that will be though!

We just started praying every night with Luke and he's doing really good. We need to find some of those BOM books for him too. Keep up the good work!
